POC awarded iF product design award 2010 for Cortex DH MIPS (1/19/2010)

Nothing has been neglected to attain the highest possible level of protection in the Cortex DH helmet.

"The issue of rotational violence to once brain when crashing is major. The load transmitted to the brain due to the rotational violence is severe and is especially crucial to prevent at high speeds and gnarly terrain, like in downill mountain biking and when jumping big. Thanks to a collaboration, with MIPS, a Swedish entity, having researched these aspect, for more than 10 years, POC is proud to launch the first bike helmet, in the world, using the MIPS technology." Says Stefan Ytterborn CEO and founder of POC.

Cortex DH MIPS contains of a lightweight advanced carbon shell wrapped around our patent pending aramid reinforced in-mold liner. The liner has a thin shell of polycarbonate covering the multi-impact Super EPP core. The double overlapping shell design, our patented VDSAP, allows a fully ventilated construction for maximum comfort without sacrificing penetration resistance or impact energy management. The helmet is equipped with the patented MIPS system to reduce the rotational forces on the brain in the case of an oblique impact.
