Glittering Gold at iF product design awards

It's insane! The POC Cortex DH MIPS full face downhill helmet has received a Gold at the iF product design awards in Hannover. "The fact that the POC Cortex DH helmet is being recognized is very rewarding and possibly extremely important for future users, as it includes the anti rotational system MIPS. The issue of rotational violence to ones brain when crashing is major. The load transmitted to the brain due to the rotational violence is severe and is especially crucial to prevent at high speeds and gnarly terrain, like in downill mountain biking and when jumping big. Thanks to a collaboration with MIPS, a Swedish entity having researched these aspects for more than 10 years, POC is proud to launch the first bike helmet in the world using the MIPS technology." says Stefan Ytterborn, CEO and founder of POC. Cortex DH MIPS has a lightweight advanced carbon shell wrapped around our patent pending aramid reinforced in-mold liner. The liner has a thin shell of polycarbonate covering the multi-impact Super EPP core. The double overlapping shell design, our patented VDSAP, allows a fully ventilated construction with maximum comfort without sacrificing penetration resistance or impact energy management. The helmet is equipped with the patented MIPS system to reduce the rotational forces to the brain in case of an oblique impact. It serves as a platform for design-relevant innovations, thus recognizing today's globally networked world and its related dynamics. Since 1953, the iF product design award has been recognized as a label for good design.
