POC unveil anniversary collection Octal and Do Half Blades with Cannondale-Drapac at the Tour de France

POC, a leading manufacturer of skiing and cycling helmets, eyewear, body armor, apparel and accessories was founded in 2005 in Sweden, with a strong mission ‘to do the best we can to possibly save lives and to reduce the consequences of accidents for gravity sports athletes and cyclists’ Slipstream Sports and POC have been working closely for a number of years and POC has been the provider of helmets and eyewear for the Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling team since 2014. Stefan Ytterborn, POC CEO and founder said - ‘Any cyclist knows that the pinnacle of road racing is the Tour de France and through our close relationship with Cannondale-Drapac we have been able to use its unique high performance environment to continually improve, innovate and refine our award winning products. Therefore, to celebrate our first 10 years, where we have dedicated ourselves to support our mission, we felt it was natural to launch our limited edition Octal and Do Half Blades collection with Cannondale-Drapac at the Tour.’ Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream Sports and the Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling Team added - “We’ve been partners with POC since the 2014 season, and several years later I’m still really impressed by their continual innovation. The helmets offer the team’s riders incredible protection and very good coverage over the back of the head while still managing to provide low weight and high ventilation. The design aesthetic of the helmets and glasses is immediately recognizable in the bunch, too. I’m proud to consider POC a partner to the team as they celebrate their 10th anniversary and I look forward to our continued relationship.” Stefan Ytterborn, continued - ‘creating POC was a big step, but from day one our vision, to offer the best in terms of personal protection, was crystal clear and we wanted to support athlete safety with products of unquestionable quality and relevance. To support the vision we set up two expert labs; POC lab - which works with some of the world's leading medical experts in head and spinal injury and trauma - and WATTS lab - which focuses on performance and aerodynamics and includes experts from Cannondale-Drapac, amongst others. Having fun and always looking to improve on our mission to possibly save lives and reduce the consequences of accidents, has meant that the last 10 years has flown by. We are immensely proud of our contributions to the road bike scene and look forward to seeing our 10 year anniversary helmets and glasses at this year's Tour and on roads the world over’ Notes to editors - The 10-year anniversary collection The Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling Team will use helmets; Octal, Octal Aero, Cerebel and sunglasses; Do Blade and Do half blade.
